Digital sports platform Khelomore has raised an undisclosed amount led by Ashwin Damera, co-founder and CEO of edtech unicorn Eruditus. The investment was made through his family office Damera Ventures.
Founded by ex-Indian cricketer Jatin Paranjape in 2017, Khelomore is a digital sports platform bringing together young sports enthusiasts, coaches, and academies online through its app. The platform helps parents explore their child’s first step into the land of multiple sports, cricket, football, badminton, and basketball.
Khelomore claims that its app connects more than 5,000 pay and play venues across cricket, football, badminton, basketball et al to consumers, thereby enabling them to learn and play a sport. The platform also says it has a unique model of deploying coaches into gated communities, enabling professional coaching to young and upcoming athletes.
Besides bringing together coaches and academies with young athletes, Khelomore also has a platform called Khelomatch for tournament organisers. Its platform handles all the backend and digital work for various sports clubs, schools, and tournament organisers providing them with easy tools to put out their match schedules, fixtures, team line-ups, pictures, and match reports.
Khelomore had previously raised investment from gaming unicorn Dream11 in 2021. In August, Dream11’ parent Dream Sports launched its venture capital cum merger and acquisition arm Dream Capital with a corpus of $250 million. According to the firm, Dream Capital has built an initial portfolio of 10 startups including Rario, IMBR, Elevar, Fittr, and SoStronk.
In April, Damera, through this family office, had invested $32 million in venture debt firm InnoVen Capital. Its portfolio includes Rhapsody Education, PING Digital and Rubanbridge.
