In a major step toward advancing India’s artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Facebook (Meta Platforms Inc.) have announced a new joint venture named Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL). The collaboration aims to build and deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions across the country, marking a powerful partnership between two global technology giants.
Formation of Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL)
The newly formed entity, Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL), was officially incorporated on October 24, 2025. It was established by Reliance Intelligence Limited (RIL’s wholly owned subsidiary) with an initial investment of Rs 2 crore, through the purchase of 20 lakh equity shares at Rs 10 each.
Rs 855 Crore Joint Investment
Under the joint venture agreement, both companies have pledged a total investment of Rs 855 crore to accelerate the development and deployment of AI-based technologies for enterprises.
- Reliance Intelligence Limited will hold a 70% stake in REIL.
- Facebook Overseas Inc. (a subsidiary of Meta Platforms Inc.) will own the remaining 30% stake.
This significant capital infusion will help the new company expand research, product development, and commercial AI services for Indian businesses of all sizes.
