Apple resolves iMessage issues after partial outage

If you were having trouble accessing iMessage earlier today, you were not alone. The tech giant’s support page states that iMessage is fully operational again after experiencing some issues. The page previously said “users may be unable to send or download attachments in iMessage.”

According to third-party web monitoring service Downdetector, users were also having issues sending and receiving messages. It appears that issues began at around 8:50 a.m. PDT/ 11:50 a.m. EDT.

Apple did not respond to TechCrunch’s request for comment regarding the issues. It’s unknown what caused the partial outage. Apple’s other online services, such as iCloud and the App Store, were not affected by today’s outage. However, the company’s support page indicates that some users also experienced issues with Apple’s Photos app. These issues also appear to have been resolved.

Update 23/05/2023 3:00 p.m. EDT: The article was updated to reflect that the issues have been resolved.
