AlmaBetter raises .7 Mn in seed round

Upskilling platform AlmaBetter has raised $2.7 million in a seed round from Kalaari Capital and others. Angel investors and founders including Vidit Aatrey, Sanjeev Kumar, Rajesh Yabaji, Varun Alagh, and Rahul Dalmia 

The company said it will invest the funds to expand its offerings to college students and strengthen the existing offerings for graduates and working professionals. Additionally, it also plans to introduce job-guaranteed courses in product engineering.

Founded by Shivam Dutta, Vikash Srivastava, Ravi Kumar Gupta, Arshyan Ahsan and Alok Anand in 2020, the platform offers flagship programmes to help learners launch their careers in high-growth domains such as data science, software development and blockchain. 

With over 16,000 learners already enrolled, the firm aims to upskill 60,000 learners by the end of March 2023.

AlmaBetter competes with Scaler, Geekster, and Cusmath.

According to Entrackr’s monthly report, 8 edtech startups raised funds amounting to $325 million, last month. Overall, funding in edtech startups plummeted from $5.82 billion in 2021 to $2 billion in 2022 till August 15, according to Entrackr‘s report on edtech. However, edtech saw a sign of revival as Byju’s raised $250 million round while Sunstone and Adda247 raised $35 million each whereas Bhanzu scooped up $15 million round.
