Online learning platform for kids Creative Galileo on Thursday announced it has raised $7.5 million in a funding round led by Kalaari Capital, Affirma Capital, East Ventures, Valiant Employee Investment Fund, and angel investors.
The Series A round brings its valuation to $40 million, which is over three-fold higher compared to its around $12.5-million valuation in July last year.
Prior to this round, the startup had raised $2.5 million in October 2021 in a pre-Series A round from Kalaari Capital and other individual investors. The round brings its all-time raise to $10 million.
Founded in 2020 by Prerna A Jhunjhunwala and Nikhil Naik, Creative Galileo operates an online character-based early learning platform for kids aged between 3 and 10. The startup says it offers a well-rounded curriculum for children through engaging and compelling narratives, gamified content, interactive learning journeys, and detailed parent updates.
According to the company’s statement, The raised funds will be utilized to scale up, accelerate hiring across teams in multiple geographies, introduce regional languages, and further strengthen research and development. It claims to have over 7 million downloads in its Android App.
“In the last year, we have successfully built and provided millions of children access to high-quality content with our Digital and Educational Equality Mission,” said Prerna A Jhunjhunwala.
“We want to enable bespoke learning for children across the globe through their favorite characters to strengthen their foundation during early years, which will also help develop and strengthen critical thinking, confidence, cognitive skills, and emotional intelligence,” Prerna adds.
Creative Galileo plans to double its current team from 30 to 60 in a year. It also plans to start providing content in other languages, including Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu in the next six months.
“In the last six months, Creative Galileo has achieved strong growth with low marketing spending. Creative Galileo has also consistently ranked among the top 20 educational apps on India’s play store – the only early learning app to achieve this distinction. This is a testament to the founders’ relentless focus and strong execution,” said Vani Kola, Managing Director of Kalaari Capital.
With extensive plans to expand in Southeast Asia, Creative Galileo recently started its foray with international alliances such as with EBS Korea, a leading educational content specialist broadcasting company.
