“Your obsessions become your possessions!”
Get All of Your Senses Involved in Your Dreams Hack –Alex Dee
We’re in the final month of this decade. Let that sink in. Of this decade. It’s hard to believe how fast time has flown by — so as you look forward to the next 10 years, here are some tips and tricks to keep you on track to achieve your wildest dreams.
1. Visit the future
Vision has the power to turn your dreams into reality. Something truly magical happens when you imagine yourself hitting a personal or professional goal: you start to believe you can do it. As you head into the new decade, start by dreaming up all the awesome things you want to achieve – without limits. Think of it as a roadmap for your next great adventure, and start with your destination — where you see yourself in 2030. Then work backwards, pinpointing all the stops you’ll make along the way. Having a clear direction will make it easier for you to follow the path. We do this at our company, and call it creating a ‘Painted Picture’ of the future – it really does work!
2. Start small
The biggest challenge with setting goals is that they can often feel like a big, impossible, insurmountable challenge. As the new year approaches, it’s easy to get so amped up about crushing goals that you can often get too ambitious. I’m especially guilty of this when it comes to fitness goals: I’ll start out super strong only to fall off the wagon a few weeks later.
But there’s a little trick that will keep you on track: just take one tiny step towards the goal instead of focusing solely on the end result.
Need to exercise? Don’t go in telling yourself you MUST run for 60 minutes, it’ll put you off. First, just put on the cleats. That’s your only goal. Put them on. Then, just get on the bike, or hit the road for a run, whatever it is, for just 10 minutes. Then just 10 more minutes. Don’t think about the next step until you’ve completed the step before. Setting big goals and trying to conquer the world is amazing, but it’s important to get more granular too. Sometimes, it really does start by just putting on the cleats.
3. Be willing to fail
Goal setting can be tough work. That’s why I encourage you to say “WTF” when you’re thinking up ambitious goals. This doesn’t mean what you think — it stands for “Willing to Fail.” This mantra will gives you the freedom to buck inhibitions and go sky-high with your dreams for the future.

The fear of failure will hold you back – when you lean into failure as an opportunity to grow, it can take you farther than you ever thought possible. As Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t — you’re right.” So start thinking you can accomplish anything you set your mind to and chances are you’ll get there.
4. Have a little patience
Our world is obsessed with instant gratification. No one wants to wait for anything — whether it’s working your way up in your career or waiting for the food you just ordered. But when it comes to achieving big goals, there’s no “quick fix.” What’s important to remember is that each small step forward makes a huge difference, even if it doesn’t feel like it.
I recently set a goal to learn to speak Italian. I committed to studying for 15 minutes a day for 100 days because everyone has 15 minutes to spare, right? Since it was such a small time commitment, most days I’d end up studying for much longer. When I went to Italy this summer after the 100 days were up, I was able to carry a full conversations with the locals in Italian.
I’m all for BHAGs (big hairy audacious goals!), but achieving those milestones is really about the tiny, bald, modest goals (TBMGs, if you will). It’s the first steps in any journey that mean the most — and all of those small movements forward eventually lead you to your final destination.
Think of it this way: if you want to walk across the country starting in the west, you have to begin by first facing east.
If you start with step one, you’ll reach your goals before you know it.
