Y Combinator, a startup accelerator in Silicon Valley, is making some changes. Starting in 2025, they will be running four cohorts each year instead of two. This will mean that each cohort will have about half as many companies as they do now.
According to Garry Tan, the president of Y Combinator, the total number of companies that go through the program each year will stay the same. This means that the company will be able to take on more startups, but give them each a bit more attention.
One benefit of having more cohorts is that investors will have more chances to meet with startups. Y Combinator will have twice as many Demo Days, which is when startups showcase their ideas to investors.
The next cohort will start on September 29, just a few days after the summer cohort’s Demo Day on September 25 and 26.
