Change: Way to a New Beginning

Change: Way to a New Beginning

“The measure of intelligence is the ability to change” -Albert Einstein

Changes are an integral part of life. We can always find changes happening around us and inside of us. Some of these changes are acceptable to us while others are not.

But why is it so tough to accept a change? How can you stop resisting the changes in your life and just accept them and move on? Can unwanted changes ever be used to make life better instead of being a frustration and an obstacle to your dreams?

I’ll describe some ways in which an unwanted change can help you instead of hindering you. I’ll tell you about how you can accept the changes in your life, use them constructively and prevent the frustration or the problems that they create on your path to achieve.

Change is almost always scary and seldom simple. The more significant that change is, the harder it can be to take the first step and stick to the course. However, learning how to change yourself for the better is an important skill to cultivate for success, both in your personal life and in business.

The key to improving yourself is to approach the process methodically, instead of hoping that success will fall into your lap. In this article, we’ll talk about why change can be a positive thing.

While any one of the suggestions provided below for helping others change will work to some degree on its own, combining them is even more effective.

1. Acknowledge Your Mistakes and Look to the Future

Chances are there are particular aspects of your personality you’d like to change. It might also be you’ve made mistakes in your personal or business life, and are looking to rectify the behavior that got you to that point.

This process is, of course, easier said than done, and it can also be emotionally draining. What we suggest is to sit back with a clear head and try the following:

  • Think about the current state of your personal and professional life.
  • Take note of the things you’re not satisfied with and want to change.
  • Consider which of those situations are within your control to change.
  • Think about what is within your power to affect, and you can do to make that change happen.

2.Lead by example

If you want other people to change, start with yourself and make sure the things you want them to change about themselves are things you do effectively yourself. “Do as I say and not as I do” is not a formula for success. But that’s only the first step.

It is important to engage visibly in the goals that you want them to adopt. When you lead by example, your actions will serve as a source of goal contagion for other people in your environment. Your actions help people see how a goal can be accomplished successfully.

3. Staying internally calm and positive

Imagine what will happen if you stop resisting that change and accept it instead.

You’ll become much more calm, relaxed and content with the way your life is going. You’ll stop letting the outside changes affect your inner state of mind. You’ll start taking things more positively and coolly.

4.Look on the bright side

Even though change can have a negative effect on your life, in most circumstances, there is always something positive to look at. Use this as an opportunity to turn a loss or negative change into an opportunity or a way to rediscover your zest for life.

5. Letting go

When you start accepting the changes, you’ll essentially be removing negative energy. You’d no longer be fussing over things which you can’t control in life. Nor will you be feeling helpless or disappointed.

This, combined with a calm and positive state of mind, would enable you to live in the moment, let go and be content just where you are, the way you are.

6.Make a plan

At this, stage of change , you might be ready to come up with your change plan. Once you’re able to say: ‘I’m willing to work on my change,’ that’s a good sign that you’re ready to consider your plan of action. How are you going to make this change happen? There’s really no right or wrong way to do this, though we have some suggestions.

The final part of the plan requires identifying likely barriers and being prepared to find ways to face them or cope with them.

7.Set goals

A goal is an end state that provides a focus for your motivational energy. Goals that are near in time get more energy than goals that are distant in time. The more active the goal, the bigger the influence on behavior. Consequently, you are biased against doing things that will pay off in the long run when there is some other activity you could do now to achieve a short-term goal.

8.Try to build a better world

Accept the change that makes you uncomfortable, and determine that you’re going to try to use your energies to make an even better world. In this way, you’re accepting change but also turning it upside down and using it to fuel what you think is positive change.

9.Develop support networks

That is ultimately the recipe for a successful support community:

  • Find a process that engages a group of people.
  • Focus on creating a neighborhood around that process.
  • Add experts who can give people good advice to help them achieve their goals.

Social relationships are a critical part of behavior change—and conversations are a critical part of relationships. Generating communities around a process is an efficient way of engaging people to change their behavior.

10. Flexibility

Flexibility can be one example of how a change may help you increase your abilities.
This goes without saying that if you learn to adjust to random changes in life, you’ll become more flexible. This flexibility will then show in the other areas of your life too and help you achieve more and be productive.

Conclusion

Lastly, I’d like to clarify that I don’t mean you shouldn’t resist a change or anything else that seems to be arresting your progress and goals. Rather, what I mean is that viewing it form a negative point of view usually gains nothing else than frustration and disappointments.

So what you need to do is to keep a clear, cool and positive mind and see not only the disadvantages but also the possible uses of such disturbing changes. You can then use the knowledge and experience you’ve gained to reach your destination as well as enhance your existing achievements.
